Debra's FotoPage - Shades of Green - Fotopages.com

Hi, I'm Debra.
I'm a Registered Nurse. I've worked in many areas of nursing, most recently as an Advice Nurse.
I enjoy writing poetry, since I was 17 years old, shall we say many years. Having a place to share my poetry with others is so exciting for me. I'd like to get your feedback.

For A Moment

With the quiet
   it comes
      infiltrates
         resonates
And for a moment
             stagnates:
But if I don't catch it,
   it is on the run
      and I am not done,
          left wordless
             unexpressed.

Debra

The creation of the triplets, 3 dolls that went to the same family. I enjoyed making each one to fit the child who was to receive the doll.
Penelope, finaly a doll for myself. Never to old for dolls.

Msgt. Kenneth E Maddux, USMC, Ret. Marine Corps Birthday 231st

My father joined the Marine Corps Sept. 10, 1942.
He retired Aug. 31, 1968.
Recently my father was extremely ill in the hospital for 22 days.
He was not doing well, getting ready for his second surgery in a few hours on Sept. 1, 2006, when four Marines in dress blues walked into his room. They spent an hour with him & you could see his entire outlook change. My brother had gone to see Salinas Marine Corps Recruiters, told they them my father was ill. My brother said, "Old Marines need to see young Marines"
There was a time I did not think my father would get home. I'm a nurse, I knew what he looked like & what was going on with him. On that Sept day the Marines invited him to come & participate in a function for young ROTC Marines for the Marine Corps Birthday. My father had a goal, to get through the second surgery, fight the infections, rehab & get home. My father went to the function on November 4, 2006. My brother was right, Old Marines need to see young Marines.

Getting Ready for Christmas

                     December
I like the coolness of December
The flickering sun behind the clouds
The need to wear my sweater.
I like the aloneness of the grey sky
The wind against my face
The birds as they fly.
I like the giving to those I love
The finding of their special gifts
The wrappings of and secrets of.
I like the songs of the season
The memories that they bring
The feeling, the real meaning.

Coyote Creek Bike Ride

Last Sat, Aug. 27, 2005, I went on a 23 mile round trip on the Coyote Creek Trail. Started on my bicycle at Bernal Road , southern part of San Jose, California, the destination was Anderson Lake in the northern part of Morgan Hill, California. There, I ate my lunch at creek side at a picnic table and took in the veiw & listened to the water. Stopped along the way at the Rest stops provided, and ofcourse many times to take pictures. Started at 8:00 AM, 75 degrees out & ended at 12 Noon when it was 8-) 88 degrees out. Nice ride and friendly people along the way. :weee: Eventually you will see all 99 pictures.
